Alaskan Seafood & Italian Wine at the Bridge

Dear Oenophile,

I was asked last time how I pick the wines for these events. Usually I’m given a menu and since I’ve drank pert near everything on the planet I select what I think would be fun. Some times I have it in inventory and some times I have to order, either way it works out.

Next week, on Wednesday the 21st, 6PM, at the Bridge Restaurant I will be practicing my craft with an Alaskan Seafood Cioppino. A hearty tomato soup with scallops, clams, halibut, crab, roasted garlic, fresh basil, olive oil and seared herb pesto bread. Usually soup and wine are a no-no but we’re going to pair it with the 2021, Tomassi, “Rafael”, Valpolicella, Classico, Superiore. This is a spicy, light bodied blend with enough punch to match the tomato base in the Cioppino.

To get seated we’ll have the Villa Marcello, Prosecco, Millesimato, Brut, 2023. The salad course will be 2023 Suavia, Soave Classico and for dessert the Cleto Chiarli, “Centenario” Lambrusco di Modena, Amabile, something you’d never try in a million years!

Tickets are $95 per person include your meal, wine pairings, and gratuity.
