6/42 Maremma Toscana

Dear Oenophile
6/42, what kind of a name is that, you wonder? It’s all about 6 varietals grown on the 42 parallel. The 42 parallel is where all the good stuff comes from. It’s just about half way between the north pole and the equator. So, perfect days of long sunshine. It also happens to run right thru the Badiola Estate, in Maremma, on the Tuscan coast. This is an old estate that grows the international grape varieties so popular in “Super Tuscans”. In fact this little beauty is Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Sangiovese, and Grenache. I was blind tasted on it and thought it was Bordeaux. It has classic red fruit, leather, wood nose. With a solid black fruit core and ample mouth feel ending in a nice dry chew. In a word, complex.I would serve this with lamb, beef or any of the more robust red sauce pastas.
Inventory has been an issue but I finally have enough to put out an email. One sip you’ll be hooked.
