Dear Oenophile
You know, it’s pretty brave naming your wine company “B Side”. I mean, does anyone even remember what an LP is? Oh yea! That’s a vinyl record. It goes on a record player. How cool. How retro. So the idea then becomes the favorite song on the flip side. The B side. Well Napa and Sonoma have their B side. There are plenty of unknown properties that produce amazing wines. Thus the “B Side” of the album. Leave it to Don Sebastiani and Sons to come up with a name like that. But in all seriousness the juice is good, really good, and the price is good too.
We have two wines to offer. Their 2016 Chardonnay and the 2016 Cabernet. The Chardonnay is spot on. White gold green color, great aroma pressure, apples and white tree fruits, mild oak spice, fruit forward, rich apple mouth, well textured and creamy, mild toasty finish, dry and lengthy.
The Cabernet is surprising. $20 Cabernet is the bane of a Sommeliers existence. However the Sebastiani’s have gotten this one right. Opaque black with a black cherry rim, red currant (cassis) aroma, mild Cabernet leaf, decent aroma pressure, fruit forward well textured mouth, red and black cherry, very mild tannins work into the finish, light coco and wood vanilla stay behind the black fruit, dry.
