Nicky Hahn founder-owner of Hahn Vineyards passed away last Month. His interests were global with a 50,000 acre wildlife preserve in Keyna and a home in Switzerland. He is mostly responsible for the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. When he and his wife Gaby purchased the Smith & Hook property no one thought of fine wine there, but Nicky did.
Today, 40 years on there are 650 acres plus more in Monterey and Arroyo Seco. This is significant! They control of all their own fruit and most of the vineyard and winery staff have been there for 30 plus years. So, there you have it this is the real stuff, family owned and dirt to bottle.
