Altos del Plata Cabernet

Every one is all about Argentine Malbec. When they hit the market they were a pretty good deal and I get that, but for me, it’s all about the Cabernet. I just love it! Everyone’s globing onto the Malbec and leaving the Cabernet deal’s on the table. So here’s a little gem, the 2014 Altos del Plata, Cabernet Sauvignon from Terrazas de los Andes. Terrazas is a solid high end winery. It’s state of the art and well funded. The Altos del Plata project is their entry level wine and it’s right on. The wine is deeply colored with vinous blue fruits and a light aroma pressure. The mouth is medium full. It carries black cherry fruits, a mild grip, a touch of tar (age) and juicy lengthy acids. See what I like here is, it’s dry and doesn’t taste contrived. Best of all the price.
